Privacy Policy
Your privacy, simply stated.
Short version: The Anti-Social extension collects nothing. All data lives on your device. The website uses anonymous traffic analytics. That's it.
Anti-Social is a browser extension built to help you spend less time on social media. Privacy is central to its design. This policy explains what information is collected, where it is stored, and how it is used — both for the extension and for this website (stayantisocial.com).
Extension data
The Anti-Social extension stores the following information locally on your device only, using the browser's built-in chrome.storage.local API:
- Whether blocking is currently enabled or disabled
- Your custom redirect URL (if you've set one)
- Your total redirect count (a local counter shown in the popup)
None of this information is ever transmitted to any server. There are no accounts, no sign-up, no email addresses collected, no analytics within the extension, and no telemetry of any kind. Your browsing activity is never read, logged, or shared.
You can clear all stored data at any time by removing the extension from your browser.
Website analytics
This website (stayantisocial.com) uses Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights to collect anonymous, aggregated traffic data. This may include:
- Page views and navigation paths
- Approximate geographic region (country level)
- Browser type and device category
- Page load performance metrics
This data is not personally identifiable, is not sold to third parties, and is used solely to understand how the website is performing and to improve the user experience. No cookies are set by this analytics integration.
Browser permissions explained
Anti-Social requests the following browser permissions. Here's why each one is needed:
- storage — to save your on/off state, redirect URL, and block count locally on your device.
- webNavigation — to detect when you navigate to a blocked social media site so it can be intercepted.
- management — used to check the extension's own enabled state on startup.
- alarms — to power the 7-second countdown timer when you toggle the extension off.
No permission is used to read your browsing history, access page content, or communicate with any external server.
Third-party services
Anti-Social does not integrate with any third-party services inside the extension. The website is hosted on Vercel, whose privacy policy governs their infrastructure. The extension is distributed through the Chrome Web Store, Microsoft Edge Add-ons, and Firefox Browser Add-ons — each governed by their respective platform policies.
Children's privacy
Anti-Social does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Because the extension collects no personal data at all, it is safe for use by all ages.
Changes to this policy
If this privacy policy changes materially, the updated version will be posted at stayantisocial.com/privacy with a revised date at the top. Continued use of the extension or website after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
